Contract talks have broken off between Unifor Local 2458 and representatives from Schlegel Villages.
Local 2458 President Tullio DiPonti says the talks broke off over the weekend with the provider of the two long-term care homes in Windsor.
He says his members are currently working without a deal after their previous collective agreement expired at the end of November.
"We did break down with Schlegel that's one of the biggest companies that deals with long-term care and they came to the bargaining table with a ridiculous offer that we just could not bring it to our membership," says DiPonti.
DiPonti says the union met with the membership Monday morning.
"We told them what it was all about but the issue is not always about the money, the issue is about how these people can keep on working short and try to take care of the most vulnerable in our community, our loved ones are in those long term cares," says DiPonti.
The union represents more than 400 personal support workers, registered practical nurses, dietary staff along with some maintenance personnel at the two villages in Windsor.
One village is in south Windsor at St. Clair College and the second village is near the WFCU Centre on McHugh Street.
DiPonti says no new talks are planned.
