Amherstburg mayor Aldo DiCarlo says an investigation continues after a breach of confidentially in the municipality.
DiCarlo says the town received a report from the Integrity Commissioner last Friday, but is not sharing any details at this time.
"The report that came back did refer to keeping the report confidential and so at this stage absolutely nothing until the Integrity Commissioner finishes or tells us otherwise," says DiCarlo.
As heard on AM800 News last month, town council agreed to allow Bruce Elman to determine where the breach occurred.
The violation in question happened between September 10 and 13, following an in-camera meeting dealing with the upcoming police switchover to Windsor.
The chair of the Amherstburg Police Board, Bob Rozankovic, received confidential information from the in-camera meeting and notified the town's CAO John Miceli.
DiCarlo says another investigation is underway.
He says he has hired a third-party independent investigator to look into administration members who sat in during the in-camera meeting.
"I don't think it's appropriate for me to get involved once the investigation starts," says DiCarlo. "I'm sure anybody then accuse me of any kind of influence or anything. So my job was to hire him, I did and then that's it now I have to wait while they do what they got to do."
DiCarlo hopes the investigation wraps up by the end of this term of council.
"I expect both of them to be fairly quick provided everyone co-operates," says DiCarlo. "The co-operation was included in the motion."
DiCarlo adds the independent investigator had to be neutral with no ties to Amherstburg.
