Provincial police in Chatham-Kent have charged a Brampton truck driver.
The OPP say on Friday around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint about an eastbound tractor trailer losing parts on Highway 401.
Police say they received reports of the rear bumper falling off along with the rear doors being insecure.
According to police, the tractor trailer was stopped near the Chatham, Elgin County border.
The investigation revealed the truck was involved in a collision in Michigan earlier in the day and suffered significant damage to the rear of the trailer.
Police say the damage resulted in the rig having insufficient rear lighting, damaged trailer brakes and the structural integrity had been compromised.
The 45-year-old driver has been charged with operating an unsafe vehicle and not properly documenting trip inspection.
Police say the vehicle was towed from the highway.
