Russian boxer Maxim Dadashev has died at the age of 28 after suffering a brain injury in a light-welterweight fight against Subriel Matias on Friday in Maryland.
Dadashev's trainer stopped the fight before the 12th-round bell, and the boxer left the arena on a stretcher.
Dadashev was hospitalized shortly after the fight, which was stopped by his corner following the 11th round after Dadashev took numerous shots to the head.
He underwent surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma.
