After four years of negotiations, Canadian border services officers have a tentative deal.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada is recommending members vote in favour of the new four-year tentative agreement which was reached in talks late last week.
The agreement recognizes border agents as law enforcement agents.
“This is a great victory for our members," says Robyn Benson, National President of the Public Service Alliance of Canada in a statement. "After years of hard work, they are finally being recognized as law enforcement officers with the respect and salaries they deserve."
The deal is retroactive and expires in June this year. It includes pay increases of 17.5% over the 4 years.
Details of the ratification votes have not been announced.
