New Blue Jays Manager Charlie Montoyo has been introduced to the media in Toronto.
Montoyo says he'll wait to see what's available on the roster next spring instead of imposing a strategy on whoever's there.
"Whenever we get to those 25 players I'll make an adjustment and I'll see what we have and we'll manage that way," he says.
When it comes to analytics, Montoyo says he's not going to rely exclusively on the numbers to make decisions on the field.
"I'm a blend of old school and analytics," he says. "So I think using both I think that makes you a better manager. I wouldn't say I'm one way or the other. Wherever I can find useful information that's where I'm going to go"
Montoyo has been with MLB's Tampa Bay Rays the past four seasons after managing many years in the minors.
He credits former Tigers' Manager Jim Leyland for inspiring him to think big when he was managing in the instructional league.
