The Chicago Blackhawks have fired head coach Joel Quenneville.
The Windsor native was relieved of his coaching duties Tuesday morning and the NHL team has named Jeremy Colliton the 38th head coach in franchise history.
In a statement from the team, the Blackhawks have also named former Red Wings coach Barry Smith an assistant coach on Colliton’s staff.
The Blackhawks have also parted ways with Assistant Coaches Kevin Dineen and Ulf Samuelsson.
The rest of the Blackhawks coaching staff will remain with the team.
Quenneville, a former Windsor Spitfire, guided Chicago to Stanley Cup victories in 2009-2010, 2012-2013 and 2014-2015.
