The third annual Black Tie Tailgate exceeded expectations in support of two local charities.
Cowboy boots, jeans, and country music replaced the standard tuxedo fundraiser theme at Beach Grove Golf and Country Club to raise money for the W.E. Care for Kids Foundation and the Windsor Spitfires Foundation.
Bob Boughner and his wife Jenn hosted the sold-out party that raised more than $100,000.
The Head Coach of the Florida Panthers and Spitfires owner is never surprised by people stepping up for those in need in Windsor-Essex.
"It's a testament to our community and the people that live here. A lot of the same faces are at a lot of these charity events and give back to their own and take care of their own, it's a great thing to see,"
Bougner spends most of the year in Florida, but says he always enjoys coming home every year to contribute to the community he grew up in.
"It allows us to give back a little and an event like this, it's just nice to be able to give back and have that effect and have a lot of fun," he says.
The Windsor Spitfires Foundation supports local charity groups and community service agencies throughout Windsor-Essex.
W.E. Care for Kids supports equipment for pediatric programs for hospitals and community groups all over Essex County.
