Bike lanes will soon be showing up on a section of Cabana Rd. in Windsor.
Last year, the city began widening Cabana Rd. to four lanes from Howard Ave. to Provincial Rd. The project includes new bike lanes on both sides of the road, new sidewalks and new storm sewers installed along with new street lighting.
Mayor Drew Dilkens told AM800's 'The Morning Drive' that paint trucks will be going out this month to mark the bike lanes on both sides of the road.
He says it's going to take time to add bike lanes right across the city.
"You can't change all of the roads overnight in the city of Windsor," he says. "But it's about building that network that we all want to see, that will happen over time. Council is committed to making sure we have a safe cycling infrastructure and those lanes will be installed on Cabana Rd. sometime in the month of April."
The goal is to have Cabana Rd. widened to four lanes up to Highway 3 by 2022.
