Cyclists will soon have a new east-west route to ride on in Windsor.
Windsor City Council on Monday approved bike lanes on Seminole St. which will link up to the new Pillette Rd. bike lanes.
"It is a great first step in terms of getting commuter cyclists giving them an east-west route," says Vice-Chair of Bike Windsor-Essex Jennifer Escott.
"We are hoping in the future that towards Walker Rd., they will link up a little better, but that is not in the budget so it could be five or more years before that happens."
Although the bike lanes will remove some on-street parking in front of businesses, Escott says the business community isn't worried.
"They did not get any push back from the businesses and we attended the community input meetings and pretty well 100% in favour."
She says in some cases, business owners support bike lanes because it slows down traffic which gives drivers more time to see the businesses they are passing.

In addition, Seminole will also be repaved from Central to Chandler, in front of the Ford Test Track.
