Items collected will be repurposed, refurbished or recycled
Another successful year for 'Always Consider Tomorrow.'
The annual recycling event brings groups together at Devonshire Mall in Windsor to gather bikes, clothing, electronics, old medications, tires and everything in between.
Truckloads of items were collected in the mall parking lot and are now destined to be repurposed, re-furbished or recycled.
One of those trucks was full of bikes, according to Unifor Local 444's Sue Najem.
She says close to 150 were gathered, in part, because of how convenient it is for residents to donate.
"Especially this time of year, you're clearing out your sheds, garages, kids are out growing bikes and different kinds of things," she says. "They can just come and one stop shop and they don't even have to get out the car. The volunteers go to the car and get the item for that particular station and move on."
Many of the bikes gathered will be used for parts, but when everything's said and done, Najem says there's going to be a lot of happy kids.
"That will be 100 kids by the end of the school year that will have bikes that didn't have a bike before. It's a great event and the communities awesome, I mean, that's all donations from the community," she says.
