Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts has been named the American League's Most Valuable Player.
Betts beat out Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels and Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Indians.
The superstar right fielder's first MVP honour was nearly unanimous as he received 28 of a possible 30 first-place votes.
Trout received one first-place vote and teammate J.D. Martinez received the other.
Betts hit .346 with 32 homers and 30 stolen bases in 136 games, leading the majors in batting average, slugging percentage and runs scored.
In the National League, Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers nearly swept the MVP award, getting 29 of 30 first-place votes.
This is the fourth time a Brewers player has been honoured as MVP following Ryan Braun (2011), and Robin Yount (1982, 1989).
