American presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will be in Windsor Sunday as part of an insulin caravan coming from Michigan.
The trips to Canada have become somewhat of a regular occurrence for many American diabetics seeking cheaper insulin.
In a series of tweets Friday, Sanders said many Americans can't afford the drug as it costs $300 a vial in the United States while the exact same drug costs $30 in Canada.
He then went on to call the American pharmaceutical industry "the biggest bunch of crooks" in the country.
Vials of insulin, one purchased in the U.S. and one in Canada, have a price discrepancy of more than $300 which has seen more Americans come to Canada for the cheaper prices of the lifesaving medication. (Ricardo Veneza/CTV Windsor)
Sanders will be with the insulin caravan at the Olde Walkerville Pharmacy at 10:30am Sunday morning.
Insulin was invented in Canada by Frederick Banting who sold the patent for just $1 so it could be available to all.
