Now that approval for a new Catholic Central High School in Windsor has been secured, there is no shortage of planning that needs to take place.
The Ministry of Education has confirmed funding and the city has maintained it's offer of land at Wyandotte St. and McDougall Ave., the site of the old Windsor Arena, which will be torn down.
Ward 3 Councillor Rino Bortolin says, because of the location, there are plenty of challenges that lie ahead including traffic to make sure there are no issues at that intersection.
But overall, "it should be good for nearby neighbourhoods" says Bortolin. "It's also the social issues in the sense that there shouldn't be as many dropping off. There shouldn't be as many bussing issues because it's actually closer to the population where they live. So hopefully that also has a positive effect on the neighbourhoods in and around that area."
Exact timelines for construction have not been determined but it's expected to be about three years before students move in.
