Over the weekend both Belle River and Tecumseh-Shoreline Minor Hockey Associations will take part in the annual Atlas Cup.
It's a weekend of friendly hockey competition seeing crossover games between both house league and travel teams vying for this years bragging rights and a spot on the coveted trophy.
Saturday's Novice AA game at 5:15pm on Shuren rink as we kick off our 50th anniversary and honour John Mark Trepanier for over 3 generations of support and dedication to Belle River Minor Hockey.
The event's executive director, Jamie Fick says there will be a special presentation by MPP, Taras Natyshak to John Mark Trepanier.
"Taras is going to be there and speak to John Mark as well during the ceremony but it's going to be something quick because we're doing it right before a game. We're going to do a ceremonial puck drop as well."
Royal Limousines will also be returning this year to drive the STUFF THE LIMO promotion in support of local food banks.
As points are collected for teams with wins or ties, associations can earn an additional 10 points by providing the most non-perishable food donations throughout the weekend.
