A popular Windsor-Essex fundraiser is returning for a 32nd year.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex Foundation is hosting its annual Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres on May 10th.
Foundation Executive Director Hayley Morgan says this year's event features 21 local food and beverage establishments. "We have the Assumption High School students again, who do a pre d'oeuvres event for us, the Critic's Choice Award with our judging panel, which is always exciting and fun, and then the people who come to the event get to vote for their favourite to win as well, so it's an exciting time.
"You can kind of come as you are after work," says Morgan. "You don't need to get all galafied and come out. Wear some comfy shoes and maybe some stretchy pants because you're going to be eating a lot."
"All vendors are from the area," says Morgan. "Actually a part of the event is they have to use local products in with their d'oeuvre and that's identified on the menu as well, so everybody that's at the event can see what the local products are."
Proceeds raised from the event benefit the seven youth mentoring programs at Big Brothers Big Sisters.
More than $1.8-million since the event began.
The event takes place in the Augustus Ballroom at Caesars Windsor.
