Employees with Auto Warehousing Company have ratified a new three year contract.
The 78 workers prep and transport newly-built minivans from the Windsor Assembly Plant to various holding lots.
The two separate units that make up the group voted 79% and 89% in favour of the new deal.
Unifor Local 444 represents the workers and President, Dino Chiodo, says while it's a small group of employees, it's a very important one.
"They do a tremendous amount of work keeping the yard clean and moving product out of the Windsor Assembly Plant. Understanding that you can see very easily how a workplace like this could potentially hold out 6,000 employees because if there's nobody moving that product it could create a concern for us."
Chiodo says employees liked the deal.
"We made some pretty good gains. A lot of the demands our members put forward we were able to attain and achieve. Our intent is to make sure we can maintain a progressive flow, at the same time, while looking at the economics and being competitive in our wages to be able to move the product and keep everything running at the Windsor Assembly Plant."
He says it was a strong vote by employees.
"Just goes to show that, obviously, the bargaining committee and the employees are connected. They understand the items and issues. We understand how hard it would be to actually go on strike and shut down the Windsor Assembly Plant, but that's not our interest and that's not our intent."
The new deal includes wage increases, lump sum bonuses and improvements to benefits, working standards and overtime.
AWC employees have been without a contract for nine months.
