Point Pelee National Park will be closed next week for a deer cull.
Parks Canada and the Caldwell First Nation will conduct a deer population reduction from January 10th to January 25th.
For safety reasons, the park will be closed to the public.
The high population of white-tailed deer are seriously threatening the balance to the forest and savannah health of the park.
It can support 24 to 32 deer, but because of mild winters with light snow and a lack of natural predators such as wolves and bears, the white-tailed deer population has grown to three to four times higher than that.
