Art by the River heads into its 52nd year in Amherstburg this weekend.
The arts and craft festival — which is held at Fort Malden — raises money for Amherstburg's Gibson Gallery.
Exhibitor Chair Bonnie Deslippe tells AM800 News 160 vendors and artists will be on hand for this year's event.
"This year we are jammed, we're totally full. Unfortunately we can't take any more exhibitors at this point so it should be a wonder event," she says.
She tells AM800 News Art by the River is a bookend to the summer for many festival goers.
"We were actually the original art and craft festival, Art in the Park started a few years after us, I guess they though it was a wonderful idea, which it is," says Deslippe, who pointed out the two events don't compete with each other. "They basically start the summer and we end the summer."
Deslippe says Art by the River is a good outlet for artists and vendors to sell their work, but it's also a benefit to the people of Essex County.
"It gives people an opportunity to purchase items that they're not normally going to find rather than go to a big-box store to buy something to decorate their homes or a gift," she added.
An estimated 9,000 people made it out to the festival last year, according to Deslippe.
The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, admission is $5.
