A Windsor man is wanted by police on a charge of attempted murder.
The charge has been announced following a shooting that led to a standoff in the area of Elliot Street and Mercer Street on Thursday.
When police arrived they found a man outside of a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to police, a suspect was identified and investigators learned the man may have been in a residence on Mercer Street and the area was contained, but the suspect was not there.
Investigators say the suspect had been in the home earlier in the day, witnesses say he was agitated and waved a gun around, then left and went to the home on Elliott where there was a confrontation and the victim was shot.
Police say the shooting was a targeted attack and the victim and suspect are known to each other.
An arrest warrant has been issued for John Elliott, 46, who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a red t-shirt, green camouflage pants and a black military style helmet - possibly operating a dark coloured E-bike.
His whereabouts are currently unknown. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous and he should not be approached.
