However it was stripped down with even the radio missing and was not drivable.
The Centre for Forensic Science processed the sample and positively identified a suspect.
Friday, January 4, 2019 the 38-year-old man was arrested in the 500 block of Capital Street.
Windsor police Spokesperson Sergeant Steve Betteridge says officers needed patience in this investigation.
"We ended up having some property, items that were seized at the scene of the crime. And when you're dealing with DNA and it was science here, it was DNA that was able to assist us in this case, that's not a quick process"
Sergeant Betteridge says there was a lot of teamwork in solving this case.
"It originated with our patrol division, obviously then our forensic identification unit was involved. Out of town themselves the Centre of Forensic Sciences was involved and our property crimes unit were the lead investigators in this case"
He says the community was clearly concerned about the theft and they are pleased to be able to make an arrest.
