Calgary police located a man wanted in a Windsor murder

An arrest has been made in a Windsor murder last year.

In November 2017, 23-year-old Jarvas Anthony Scott was gunned down after leaving a house party on Heathfield Court.

Shortly thereafter, police arrested two people, Idrisso Palmer and Nail Tap, and charged them with first-degree murder.

An arrest warrant was also issued for Sumar Al-Rubayi.

On Friday, July 6, 2018, Windsor police was notified that Al-Rubayi had been located in Calgary and arrested.

On Monday, Windsor police went to Calgary to arrest Al-Rubayi who was transported back to Windsor for a court appearance on a charge of first-degree murder.

Windsor Police Sergeant Steve Betteridge says this is why a Canada-wide arrest warrant works.

"Even with different provinces, police are communicating well with each other and being able to make a safe arrest," he says  "Now letting the wheels of justice move forward and having this person answer to this extremely serious charge before the courts."
