Extra cheese, green peppers and helping heart health in Windsor-Essex is the order as Antonino's Pizza launches its 10th annual fundraiser to help the Cardiac-Angioplasty program at Windsor Regional Hospital.
It is donating one dollar from the sale of every heart-shaped pizza, heart-shaped nutella pizza and heart-shaped cinnamon sticks to the hospital.
"We are very excited to have this money and the help that it will give us," says Kristin Kennedy, director of critical care and cardiology. "We will most likely be using it in the cath lab, critical care unit."
She says it has about 3,000 people that go through the cath lab every year for catheterizations and another 900 for angioplasty.
Antonino's owner Joe Ciaravino hopes other pizzerias jump on board.
"I understand that one of our competitors is doing heart-shaped pizzas as well and I think it is a great cause," he says. "I would like to challenge all pizzerias in Windsor to do heart-shaped pizzas and donate the dollar."
