Eight teams from as far as Toronto will be playing

St. Anne Catholic Secondary School is hosting the annual Father Cullen Classic today.

Eight hockey teams will make their way to Lakeshore, according to organizer John Talerico. They include two-teams from Toronto, a team from Chatham, Belle River, Kingsville, and St. Anne's High School

The St. Anne's Catholic High School coach says the tournament honours long time Assumption coach Father Ronald Cullen.

"Honouring Father Cullen, who did a lot for athletics in Windsor-Essex, having teams from across the province come for that, it's pretty special," he says.

It's also a great way for kids to start their season, Talerico added.

"It's high school hockey, they're playing with their friends, so it's a good way to get with their friends and have some comradery and start the high school hockey season officially," says Talerico.

The round-robin-tournament is taking place at the Atlas Tube Centre.
