Attention gardeners — the 22nd annual Paul Martin Perennial and Rose Sale is here.
Every year the City of Windsor holds the sale in the Lanspeary Park Greenhouse on Giles Blvd. E..
Wanda Letourneau spoke to AM800's Patty Handysides on The Afternoon News.
The city's Horticulture Manager says nearly everything sold to help maintain the Paul Martin Memorial Garden is home grown.
"We've grown them in our own parks and let them develop. We dig them up in the fall and divide them, do cuttings, we grow them by seeds," she says. "A lot of the products are from this area."
Letourneau says support is on hand for those finding their green thumb.
"We have 14 gardeners that provide the specialties, we have a lot of volunteers that come from our administrative staff," says Letourneau. "All these employees get together and it's quite family oriented so that's really cool."
She says the city's website lists everything that's up for sale.
"They will have a list of the perennials that we're actually selling," she says. "That helps if people want to plan and do their own designs, or they can bring their designs for us to look at, that would be great."
The Paul Martin Perennial and Rose Sale goes Saturday, May 5 from 8am to 2pm.
