It's the seventh year for a partnership to help end hepatitis in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex Community Health Centre joined forces with stakeholders from throughout the region for its annual barbeque at Windsor's Downtown Mission on Victoria Ave.

According to the health unit, hepatitis numbers are up in Windsor-Essex with an increase of 54 cases over the five year average.

Director of Clinical Practice, Nadine Manroe-Wakerell, tells CTV Windsor, the message is simple — get tested and get treated for a disease that doesn't have to be fatal.

She says the homeless and the drug addicted are more susceptible to the blood born infection.
