A $35 surprise for some motorists attending a candlelight vigil at the University of Windsor.
On Tuesday, about 15 vehicles parked in the 200 block of Patricia Rd. between Riverside Dr. & University Ave. were ticketed for parking illegally by the city's parking enforcement.
The motorists were shocked and disappointed when they returned to their vehicles to find tickets on their windshields.
Rob Osman was parked on Patricia and says he talked to the parking enforcement officer after the tickets were issued.
"She said our supervisors, our top supervisor told us to give tickets, I am sorry and I said your dignity is worth more than anything, you should have told your supervisor, I'm not going to give a ticket, not for something like this," says Osman.

He says the city should be ashamed for handing out tickets while the 20-minute vigil was going on.
"They disgust me, the city of Windsor I'm so disgusted to say I live in the city of Windsor when they do, that's a hate crime right there to come and give us tickets," says Osman.
There are no parking signs on Patricia Rd.
There is also a sign stating parking is restricted to vehicles with a residential parking permit.
