Albert Pujols became the third player in Major League Baseball history to reach 2,000 career RBIs as the Los Angeles Angels routed the Detroit Tigers 13-0 at Comerica Park Thursday afternoon.
Pujols hit a solo home run in the third inning to join Hank Aaron and Alex Rodriguez as the only other players to reach the historic milestone.
The Angels pounded four Tigers pitchers for 16 hits to take two of three games in the series.
Ryan Carpenter gave up eight hits and six earned runs over five innings and was tagged with the loss.
The Tigers' offence managed just five hits.
