There is potentially good news for the Ford engine plant in Windsor.
CFO Bob Shanks recently warned analysts and investors, "don't be surprised" if Ford cuts production or temporarily idles assembly lines across North America in the coming months.
A report by Automotive News points to a plateau in auto sales for the decision.
But while Ford appears to be scaling back car production across the United States, it is stepping up production of other vehicles.
Auto analyst Dennis Derosiers told AM800's 'The Afternoon News' that could pay off in Windsor. "Across North America and indeed to a degree Mexico, is moving heavy duty into light truck, which would forecast potentially really good news for an eight cylinder engine plant. What you got to do is get down into the weeds and it's very difficult to get a true fix on whether it's going up or going down."
Windsor produces V8 Engines for Ford and while local autoparts companies supply many vehicles in Ford's fleet, Derosiers doesn't think production here will be heavily affected by an upsurge in light truck production.
