Ford is not revealing exactly what it plans to build in Windsor.
Yesterday, the automaker announced it's investing $1.2-billion in its Canadian operations with the help of senior levels of government.
That includes $600-million in Windsor for a new engine product, which Ford is not disclosing for competitive reasons.
University of Windsor Auto Marketing Professor Tony Faria he's heard the likely future product will be large engines.
"There is a consistent requirement for large engines," says Faria. "It probably will not be a gigantic volume engine but the large truck market, the muscle car market and certainly the commercial truck market are pretty big markets."
Faria believes speculation about a 7-litre engine makes sense and says one interesting aspect will be whether the new engine will be a gas or diesel engine.
Faria expects the exact product announcement should come soon, since the company has indicated it is already making floor space for the new product.
