Selection camp opens Friday afternoon in Amherstburg for the Canadian women's sledge hockey team.
25 women from across the country will be at the Libro Centre including Windsor's Jessica Matassa — hoping for a spot on the 16 person roster.
She's represented Canada twice before at the Summer Paralympic games
"We'll be competing at a U.S. series in February in Minnesota and then at the end of the year we'll be out in Europe for a competition as well," says Matassa.
Shje says the first two ice times Friday and Saturday morning are skills and speed testing.
"It finishes with a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, inter-squad teams. The two teams you were split up into, you'll be competing against the other side in a game situation so the evaluators can pick who's going to be on the team."
According to Matassa, Canadians from far-and-wide are coming to this camp.
"A girl from B-C, currently living in Ireland, she's coming over for her try-out. All the way from the East Coast as well. So we're right across Canada that are coming in."
Two other Windsor-Essex athletes will also be at the selection camp — Ashley Goure and Dani McPhee.
On-ice sessions are planned for 5-7pm Friday night and 10am-12pm Saturday.
Games are scheduled for 3-5pm Saturday and 9-11am Sunday.
