Amherstburg is being recognized on the provincial stage.
The town has received several awards from Festival and Events Ontario — among them, Municipality of the Year with a population under 50,000.
Manager of Tourism and Culture Anne Rota says it's a team effort at the town.
"There's one thing that really shines through Amherstburg and that is the collaboration of our partners, our businesses, all of our sites, the volunteers, our department heads. Within, we truly do collaborate and support each other and I think that's one of the big reasons."
Rota says if you've never been to Amherstburg during festival season, you're missing out.
"Municipality of the Year speaks to all of the departments, all of the residents. That's the one thing about Amherstburg, of course, we have that walkable community. We have that service that our businesses provide and the beautiful, authentic buildings. It's all there in Amherstburg."
She says the town is bringing the farmer's market to Toddy Jones Park this year to further boost its roster of spring and summer activities.
"That new location is just going to solidify the new vendors and another things is about 80% of the vendors at the farmers market are truly local product, right from the ground and people appreciate and love that."

The town also received the Best New Festival Award for its Uncommon Festival and a Top 100 award for the River Lights Winter Festival.
Rota adds, in an extra push to increase tourism, the town will be launching a new website in June called visitamherstburg.ca.
