Despite beautiful weekend weather, the Amherstburg Rotary Ribfest sees a slight dip in attendance in its 9th year.
Ribfest chair Carl Gibb says about 13,000 people attended the three-day event this year — down from about 13,500 the year before.
Final financial figures are still being calculated for the event.
Last year's ribfest brought in $15,000 for the Rotary club, helping the not-for-profit group donate 560 carbon monoxide detectors to the local fire department for low income households.
"I was hoping for some more but, you never know," says Gibb.
He says the proceeds from this year's event will go towards and unnamed project Rotary is working on with the town.
"No details yet, but we are planning on getting into another big project."
Gibb adds the ribfest committee will be working with the town on a new location for the event next year because Centennial Park won't be available.
Part of the park was sold by the town to the public school board where a new high school will be built.
