WINDSOR — Restaurant and bar owners in Windsor-Essex continue to adapt to offering only takeout and delivery options.
Last week, Premier Doug Ford issued a province-wide State of Emergency which immediately ordered the closure of all nightclubs, bars and restaurants except to provide takeout food and delivery.
Matthew Johnston is owner of Artisan Grill in Amherstburg on Dalhousie Street and admits it was a tough week but he and his team are doing their best.
"We always did take out, but we're just kind of adapting to the need right now with the climate of everything that's going on we're just starting to offer the delivery service using a third party delivery service that's working out well for us so far," he says.
Johnston has implemented some new safety measure including social distancing.
"We're doing curb service, drop offs and still keeping the proper distance from people. We're doing our best, it's tough but you have to do what you can," added Johnston.
Johnston says he did have to lay off some staff members.
He says out of 17 employees, he has five currently working.
