Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says more than a dozen open houses were held and the majority of feedback favoured keeping the Amherstburg Police, even if the price was slightly higher. "This is something that's going to probably continue to be at the forefront as we move through the process of looking at other options. In the meanwhile, it shows how we run a very efficient police force and the residents sure appreciate it."
The town is investigating a switch to the OPP and expects to receive a cost estimate before the end of the year.

The Amherstburg Police Service will present its plan tonight for moving forward in the coming years.
