The Town of Amherstburg wants to bring a nurse practitioner led clinic to the municipality.
CAO John Miceli says the town has set up two public meetings to see if the public supports the idea.
He says the town has partnered up with the Essex County Nurse Practitioner Clinic and has submitted an application for funding.
Miceli says council asked administration to see how the town could improve its family care in the municipality.
"One of the solutions that we have come up with was a nurse practitioner's clinic," says Miceli. "We're going through that exercise. We've partnered up with the Essex Nurses Practitioner Clinic to see if that's something that our community does want. We have an application in for funding and if we're successful then hopefully we'll have a nurse practitioner's clinic here in the town."

Miceli adds the town has looked at other models in the region.
"We understand the one in Lakeshore has been very well received," says Miceli. "The one in Essex is very well received. The way the care is provided it's a little different then what people are use to but from what I've been told, it's very very good."
The first public meeting is set for Wednesday from 5pm until 6:30pm at town hall.
The second meeting is set for Friday (March 2) from 10am until 11:30am at the Libro Centre.
