An Amherstburg councillor wants to be kept in the loop regarding big announcements in town.
Diane Pouget says there have been several major announcements in the past month or so regarding new hotels and investments in town, and councillors were not given enough advance notice.
She says it is frustrating when residents ask them about the investments and she doesn't have the answer.
She has put forth a notice of motion requiring administration to give councillors 48 hours advance notice on big announcements such as ground breaking ceremonies, ribbon cuttings and investments.
Pouget says councillors should know what is going on.
"When I was going door-to-door, the people told me loud and clear, they want council to take control of doing the business for the town of Amherstburg," she says. "There are seven elected members on council for the Town of Amherstburg and yet, most of us are kept in the dark."
Up to this point, no official notice is given to councillors when a media event is taking place--it's mostly just word of mouth.
Pouget believes it is wrong for councillors to learn what is happening in town through the media.
The issue will be up for discussion at the next council meeting on November 26.
