Tolls on the Ambassador Bridge will be waived for essential workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Canadian Transit Company, which operates the Ambassador Bridge, says it will be absorbing the cost of tolls in appreciation for medical professionals making the daily commute to work in Michigan.
In a statement, Ambassador Bridge Chairman Matthew Moroun says," it's a small thing we can do to show that we see your daily sacrifice and we are grateful."
According to the release, the program is for all passenger vehicles carrying essential workers beginning Thursday and will continue until circumstances change.
Non-essential travel through international borders is still not permitted during the pandemic.
