The Ambassador Bridge is speaking out after an article in the Bloomberg Business Review.
The article suggested the Detroit River could become a new trade war front for the Trump administration.
It outlines the rivalry between the Maroun family and their push to build a replacement span for the aging Ambassador Bridge and the Canadian government's project, the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
In response to the article, Bridge President Dan Stamper released a statement asking why the Gordie Howe bridge project should receive a waiver from the US "Buy American" rules, while imposing conditions on construction of its bridge.
Stamper says "the Gordie Howe International Bridge conflicts with many of the current administration's policies."
He goes on to say "we hope the US will level the playing field at the border" adding that removing the Canadian conditions would allow construction to begin.
