It's official.
Bill Altenhof is now the Ward 2 councillor in Tecumseh.
Altenhof was sworn in Tuesday night at his first council meeting since being elected in a byelection earlier this month.
He says with budget talks just around the corner, administration has been a big help.
"The staff has been very good wanting to bring me up to speed, but it's kind of a big wave of information and knowledge and a plethora of data coming your way pretty quickly. But you know, I think we're trying our best and we'll continue to improve as we move along."
Altenhof says he's looking forward to jumping right in.
"This is a pivotal moment, obviously. Budgets and everything, because you're looking to the future and I recognize we have to carefully look at the items and we're going to work together, all the council members because I've seen that encouragement from them."

Altenhof says he's been getting positive feedback from residents already and he sees the opportunity as a chance to give back to the community that's been so good to him.
Altenhof announced his candidacy back in August after receiving the support of Mike Rohrer's family, the former Ward 2 councillor who passed away suddenly in May.
Altenhof won the byelection garnering nearly half of the votes cast.
