Bienvenue a Montreal.
Air Canada has announced it will begin non-stop flights from Windsor to Montreal beginning July 2, 2018.
Mayor Drew Dilkens says it will build on the success at the Windsor International Airport which has been paying the city $1-million a year in dividends since 2015 because of the increase in business.
Daily Montreal-Windsor flights will be operated by Air Canada Express Jazz 50-seat Bombardier jets.
Dilkens says the exchange rate today helps capitalize on the American business.
"We know and Air Canada knows that a significant portion of their business today carrying passengers either from Windsor to London or Windsor to Montreal are Americans who cross the border because of the price difference," says Dilkens.
He says this opens the market for more people from Montreal to come to this area.
Presidents of Passenger Airlines at Air Canada Benjamin Smith says the airline is pleased to expand into a growing southern Ontario market.
Direct flights are also being operated from London to Montreal.
