If you are using Air Canada out of Windsor International Airport, you may want to check ahead.
Due to runway construction at Pearson Airport in Toronto combined with this week's weather, several flights in and out of Windsor had to be cancelled — including all of today's Air Canada flights to and from Toronto.
"What happens is when wind or weather is a deciding factor in landings or takeoffs, what Pearson does is that they are restricted to one runway," says Windsor Airport CEO Carolyn Brown. "That causes delays and cancellations and those delays and cancellations typically impact regional flights to YQG."
"It is unfortunate, I have a board in my office, the flight information display, and over the past few weeks any time we have had weather challenges, the Air Canada flights, we typically lose a couple of them a day."
Brown says Porter Airlines has not been affected.
She suggests if you are using Air Canada, to always check ahead.
