A higher than normal number of breakdowns at Transit Windsor over the weekend kept passengers waiting.
Executive Director Pat Delmore says the breakdowns resulted in delays Monday morning into the afternoon.
He says the older fleet is to blame and hopes the addition of 24 new buses early next year will resolve the problem.
Delmore says regular breakdowns are expected, but the weekend was extra busy.
"We had a number of issues over the weekend that when we get in Monday morning and we are trying to provide the service having a larger number breakdown over the weekend played a part of it," says Delmore.
He says the older fleet is to blame.
"I think whenever this happens, we have to sit back and take a snapshot of the incident and say how are we going to try and best to address it. We have added some additional overtime to the mechanics to clean up the backlog," says Delmore.
Delmore says the oldest bus in the fleet is more than 20 years old.
