A Windsor man has pleaded not guilty in a vicious assault a few years ago in the city.
Jesse Ball-Shearon, 23, is facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
On July 25, 2016, police were called to Tecumseh Rd. West near McKay where a 26-year-old man was found with a broken ankle and cuts to his head.
Police say the victim went to a nearby apartment where there was an altercation with two other men including Ball-Shearon.
In his opening statement, the crown's theory is the accused assaulted the victim with a pipe and allegedly pushed the victim down the stairs.
The other accused in the case, 30-year-old Justin Perkins, was found not guilty of assault and aggravated assault, but was found guilty of breaching probation not to possess anything intended to be used as a weapon.
The trial is slated for three days in Superior Court.
