The second round PJHL playoff series between the Essex 73's and the Amherstburg Admirals opens Tuesday night in Essex.
The 73's finished in first place in the Stobbs Division in the regular season with a record of 29-6-1-4.
The Admirals finished in fourth place with a record of 29-9-0-3 in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Paul Bortignon, the head coach of the Admirals, all of the regular season head-to-head matches were competitive.
"Regular season, we lost the series, they won three and we won two," notes Bortignon. "All competitive games with the exception if one where they (73's) exploded for a few in the third period."
Bortignon tells AM800 Sports they don't plan to force things.
"We've stressed it to our team, and that's kind of been the focus point for our us, is not chasing goals every shift," says Bortignon. "I think the depth of our team will come into play."
Bortignon admits Essex coach Gil Langlois is tough to match up against and will have Essex prepared.
"When you're talking about the best obviously, Gil hasn't lost a playoff series whether it be the Great Lakes or the Stobbs," says Bortignon. "We know that we're going up against probbably the best coach we have seen in a really long time."
Game time for game 1 of the best-of-seven series is 7 p.m. in Essex.
The Lakeshore Canadiens also host the Dresden Kings at 7 p.m. Tuesday for game 1 of that series at the Atlas Tube Centre.
