The Windsor Public Library is opening additional branches Tuesday for computer use only.
Riverside, John Muir and Budimir will be added to the list of branches that are providing the service.
The service was launched last week as a test run at the Central Branch on Ouellette Avenue.
Library board chair Rino Bortolin says the additional branches are considered regional branches.
"They are the bigger ones and the anchors in the different areas with the bigger branches and then the next level are more neighbourhood branches," says Bortolin. "These ones are the more regional ones that have more of the computer options."
He says a lot of safety precautions have been put in place at the branches.
"Separated the computers and the units, make sure social distancing was taking place, asking people to wear a mask, having them timed," says Bortolin. "So an hour turnover, 45 minute usage and then 15 minutes to clean it and all those precautions have been actually working and working well. So we feel confident and comfortable expanding it to other branches."
Bortolin says the service was well received at the Central Branch.
"We feel that it's a much needed service and we feel that the numbers that were coming in definitely justified pushing to open the other branches," says Bortolin.
The additional branches will be open Monday and Wednesday from 1pm until 8pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 11am until 6pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am until 5.pm
The service is first come, first serve and users are allowed to be on the computers for 45 minutes.
Once the user is signed off, library staff will spend 15 minutes cleaning the computer stations.
Plexiglass dividers have also been set up along with social distancing measures.
