There will not be a Windsor Public Library branch at Devonshire Mall.
Library Board Chair Dr. Peter Frise says "mall management has turned down the request and there are no immediate plans to look for another south Windsor location. At present their is no alternate facility in the area that is suitable for a public library."
And to build a new branch would cost an estimated $1.3-million with annual operating costs of more than $500,000.
Frise says, for now, a new south Windsor location is off the table.
Ward 9 councillor Hilary Payne has been pushing for a branch in his ward.
A letter will be sent to Payne and the rest of city council outlining the library board's decision.
