It's a Christmas miracle for the local Salvation Army.
The Christmas Kettle Campaign was far from reaching its goal of $270,000 earlier this week, but a jump in donations helped make dreams come true.
Not only did the Salvation Army reach its goal, it surpassed it, raising $304,000.
"We're ecstatic," Major Paul Rideout says. "The generosity of the people is unexplainable really -- just incredible."
Rideout says he was nervous the last couple weeks.
"As we moved into later last week it looked a little brighter, but I could never predict the outcome," he says. "Just absolutely phenomenal. I'm proud to be part of the Salvation Army, but I'm even more proud to be part of this city, who in my mind has shown extreme generosity."
The money raised goes to the Christmas program for toys and food and to stock the shelves at the food bank for the next 12 months.
