CEO Bill Bevan has announced his retirement at the Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society starting April 6th.
Bevan has been in child welfare for 40 years in Windsor-Essex, London, Grand Prairie Alberta, Newmarket, Owen Sound and Thunder Bay.
He returned to Windsor in 1998.
During his tenure, Bevan oversaw the amalgamation between the Essex County CAS and the Roman Catholic Children's Aid Society of Windsor and Essex County.
He also saw the CAS's new headquarters built on Riverside Drive and saw the growth of the agency from 120 staff to now 400.
Its budget has also grown from about $13-million to $60-million today.
Chief Operating Officer Terry Johnson will assume the position of acting CEO while the search is on for a permanent CEO.
