Tyler Scott scored twice and added an assist as the Essex 73's beat the Petrolia Flyers 4-2 in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Thursday night.
William Stadder and Eric Shaw also scored for the 73's, who extended their winning streak to five games and grabbed sole possession of second place in the Stobbs Division.
Matt Badour faced just 17 shots and made 15 saves to record the win.
With Blenheim's win over Mooretown, the Blades break up the logjam for first-place.
Lakeshore and Amherstburg are now tied for third-place.
